You can’t always predict when inspiration is going to strike, so apologies for not giving you more notice about our latest and greatest off-kilter event. With the help of the fine folks at Clements (locksmiths by day, bartenders by night) on Cherokee Street, we’re welcoming all and sundry to celebrate the good ship Edmund Fitzgerald on the 51st anniversary of its final voyage, Tuesday, November 10.
We’ll be there with copies of one of our favorite reads of the year, The Gales of November, newly released in paperback, and other books about shipping and maritime disaster. Specialty cocktails will be served, stories told, and songs sung (by musicians, not us, thankfully). It’ll be an evening of fun and fellowship that we’ll all enjoy while it’s happening, and maybe even more later on when our friends ask, “Wait, what did you do Tuesday night?”
